Alexander leaves ISU

Ames, Iowa – Iowa State basketball player Chris Alexander, who was suspended after being arrested last month, has taken what was termed a leave of absence from the team. He would be welcome to rejoin the team if he chose to return, coach Larry Eustachy said. ISU beat Global Sports 72-69 Monday in its final exhibition game.

Tech signs transfer

Lubbock, Texas – Texas Tech has signed Mike Travis of City College of San Francisco to a national letter of intent. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound Travis averaged 11 points as a freshman last season for CCSF, which finished 33-2. He was the team’s leading rebounder. He played for Thurgood Marshall High School in San Francisco.
