death row convicted this year

The following Kansans are on death row:

⢠Gary Kleypas, convicted for the 1996 rape-murder of Carrie Williams in Pittsburg. His sentence was overturned by the state Supreme Court, and he is currently waiting for the penalty phase of his case to be revisited.

⢠Michael Marsh, convicted for the killings of Marry Ane and Marry Elizabeth Pusch. He is awaiting mandatory review of his sentence by the state Supreme Court.

⢠Gavin Scott, convicted of the murders of Doug and Beth Brittain. He is awaiting mandatory review of his sentence by the state Supreme Court.

⢠Stanley Elms, convicted of the rape and murder of Regina Gray in 1998. He is awaiting mandatory review of his sentence by the state Supreme Court.

⢠Reginald Carr, convicted in November for the Dec. 15, 2000, murders of Jason Befort, Brad Heyka, Heather Muller and Aaron Sander, and for killing Ann Walenta four days before the quadruple murder.

⢠Jonathan Carr, convicted In November of the same five murders as his older brother Reginald. Both are awaiting mandatory review of their sentences by the state Supreme Court.

⢠John E. Robinson, Sr., convicted for the murders of two women whose bodies were found in barrels on his property and also of murdering a woman who disappeared in 1985 and was never found. The jury recommended death in this Johnson County case; a judge will announce the sentence Jan. 21.
