The weekly womenâÂÂs Bible study group will explore âÂÂWomen of the Old Testamentâ from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays or 9 a.m. Fridays at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6001 W. 15th St.

The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a breakfast after the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses Sunday in the social hall.

Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28.

First Presbyterian

The Rev. Emilee Whitehurst is the new associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church, 2415 Clinton Parkway. This is WhitehurstâÂÂs first call to ministry from her home church in Austin, Tex.

She received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her masterâÂÂs of divinity from Harvard Divinity School. Her work at First Presbyterian will include leadership for the churchâÂÂs college and adult ministries, as well as its simple worship experience Sunday evenings.

The Session of First Presbyterian has called a congregational meeting for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 24 in the sanctuary. The purpose of the meeting is to hear a report from the nominating committee regarding the election of next yearâÂÂs leader disciples for the church.

Indian Hills Church of God

A Family Harvest Celebration is planned for Sunday at Indian Hills Church of God, 601 W. 29th St. Terrace. The event will feature Sonshine & Company, a ministry of puppetry, song, drama and mime in its 25th year.

The Lawrence BahaâÂÂi Community now meets for worship services from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sundays at Unity Church of Lawrence, Ninth and Madeline Lane.

Morris Baptist Center

The Morris Baptist Center, 146 Indian Ave., will be selling Indian tacos from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. The $5 cost includes one taco and a beverage. Carry-out boxes will be available.

Indian tacos are made of Indian fry bread with toppings such as meat, beans and vegetables. Richard and Susie Morris will be making the bread.

Proceeds from the sale will go toward remodeling the kitchen at the Morris Baptist Center, which is a ministry to students at Haskell Indian Nations University.

Plymouth Congregational

Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vt., will have its annual Thanksgiving dinner from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 24 at the church. Several food items are still needed. Those who would like to contribute should sign up Sunday in the narthex.

St. John the Evangelist

The adult religious education class of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky., will hear a presentation on the conflict in Northern Ireland by Maura Piekalkewicz from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Sunday in the parish hall.

The church is being the host to the annual meeting of the Kansas Coalition Against the Death Penalty at 7 p.m. Sunday in the St. John School Gym. The video âÂÂUnreasonable Doubt,â about the Joe Amrine case, will be shown. Sean OâÂÂBrien, a capital defense lawyer and AmrineâÂÂs attorney, will speak about the case.

The Knights of Columbus will serve breakfast after the morning liturgies on Sunday in the parish hall.

Trinity Lutheran

The series âÂÂOne Land, Two Peoplesâ will begin during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday education hour at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H. Hosted by the Rev. Don Conrad and his wife, Janice Conrad, the series will explore the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and viewpoints from both sides, including how Christians have responded. The series ends Dec. 22.

TrinityâÂÂs Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold its Scandinavian Smorgasbord, Bake and Craft Sale Dec. 7. A limited number of tickets are available to the community.

The Rev. Sherry Schultz will continue âÂÂMake Me An Instrument,â a spiritual journey based on the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, during the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday worship services.

Lynate Pettengill will lead a workshop, âÂÂStop Waiting, Start Living,â at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.

Robin Goff of The Light Center in rural Baldwin will conduct an âÂÂIntroduction to Healing Touch,â exploring the basics of energy work with hands-on practice, at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence will be host to a music program for piano and clarinet by Remigijus Sabaliauskas and Andrusz Ziura from Vilnius, Lithuania, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Worden United Methodist

The Witness Band will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at Worden United Methodist Church, 3 1/2 miles west of the junction of highways 59 and 56. The Witness Band is a local Southern gospel group that plays both original songs and old favorites. The community is invited to this evening of music, praise and fellowship.
