Herschell services

Services for Kenneth Clifford Herschell, 86, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Herschell died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 3, 1916, in Topeka, the son of Charles James Garfield and Sara Kathryn (Iwig) Herschell. He moved to Douglas County at age 5.

A dairy farmer, Mr. Herschell also was a production worker at FMC and Hercules for 30 years. He was a volunteer at the Lawrence Senior Center and a member of Eagles Lodge No. 309 of Lawrence and Washington Creek Church of the Brethren.

He married Cecil Mae Ewing on July 23, 1937. She died in 1995.

Survivors include a son, Robert, Lawrence; two daughters, Louise Howard and Wanda Gaggero, both of Lawrence; a brother, Charles, Overbrook; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
