Brohammer

Harold J. and Marie E. Brohammer, rural Baldwin, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 396 E. 900 Road near Baldwin.

Harold Brohammer and Marie Hornberger were married Dec. 9, 1952, at St. John’s United Church of Christ.

They are lifetime residents of Douglas County. Harold is a World War II veteran and served on Willow Springs Township Board from the late ’60s to the late ’70s. Marie worked in the food service department at Baldwin High School from 1977 to 1997, when she retired.

The couple have six daughters: Marjory Brohammer, Asheville, N.C.; Mary Brohammer, Lawrence; Marlena Wallace, Overland Park; Martha Roach, Newton; Marla Royer, Tulsa, Okla.; and Margene Brohammer, Amarillo, Tex.

The couple also have five grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

Trude

John E. and Colleen J. Trude will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Perry Community Center, Perry.

John Trude and Colleen Abel were married Nov. 23, 1952, in Thompsonville.

John and Colleen were high school sweethearts at Perry Rural High School.

John served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He attended Washburn University. He worked at Bendix and Raytheon Corp. He was an electronic technician for the FAA for 30 years, retiring in June 1989.

Colleen attended Clark Business College and worked for Santa Fe and the Kansas Department of Revenue.

The couple have two children: Debbie Peavler, Topeka, and Cathy Elliott, Lenexa.

The couple also have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
