Cavender services

? Services for Jim Cavender, 76, Baldwin, will be at 2:30 today at New Life Assembly of God Church in Baldwin. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin.

Mr. Cavender died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at his home.

He was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Waverly, the son of Dana Pearson and Nina Elma (Rader) Cavender. He moved to the Sacramento, Calif., area as a child and attended school there. He moved to the Baldwin area in 1947.

Mr. Cavender was a farmer for many years before he began working at Baldwin Grain in 1969. He worked there for 17 years and then began working for the city of Baldwin in the power plant in 1986. He retired from the plant in 1994.

He married Alice Josephine Key on Jan. 10, 1968. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Rebecca J. Fender, Baldwin, and Nina M. Cavender, Derby; a son, David J., Abilene; his stepmother, Reta Cavender; a brother, Bill, Baldwin; a sister, Evelyne Perry; and six grandchildren.
