Light rain expected after noon

Thinking about doing a little yard work this afternoon? DonâÂÂt count on it — scattered rains will probably make raking leaves out of the question.

âÂÂResting rakes is the forecast today,â said Matt Makens, 6News meteorologist.

âÂÂIt will stay cloudy today, with a chance for light rain around noon and this afternoon. We’re not expecting a lot of rain, but light showers are possible,â Makens said. âÂÂAn umbrella wouldn’t be a terrible idea after lunchtime.âÂÂ

Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, with highs in the mid 40s and light winds from the north, he said.

âÂÂTonight, we will start to clear out and that will allow us to get below freezing. We’ll stop at about 30 degrees,â he said.

Skies will be sunny on Friday morning, but will become cloudy by late afternoon, with a high of about 45 degrees.

âÂÂDon’t hold your breath, but a snowflake is possible in the afternoon,â he said.

If youâÂÂre headed to an area football game Friday night, you might want to bundle up. Temperatures will be in the 30s, with cloudy skies, he said.

Saturday, will start off cloudy, but skies should become partly sunny, with the high temperature reaching 43.

Warmer weather is headed to the Lawrence area next week, with the highs getting up into the 60s. The highs will reach 52 on Sunday, 58 on Monday and 60 on Tuesday, he said.
