Robert D. Ubelaker

Ottawa :quot; Services for Robert D. Ubelaker, 58, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa.

Mr. Ubelaker died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 4, 1944, in Ottawa, the son of Clement E. “Doc” and Dorothy A. (Haas) Ubelaker. He grew up and attended school in Ottawa, where he graduated from Ottawa High School in 1963. He later attended Clark’s Business School in Topeka.

Mr. Ubelaker worked at Kansas Boys Industrial School in Topeka until November 1965, when he began working for Kansas Alcoholic Beverage Control in Topeka. He retired from ABC in December 1988. He and his wife then managed group homes for Faith Handicap Village in Mission, Keys Youth Services in Olathe, Lakemary Center in Paola, and The Shelter Inc. and Community Living Opportunities, both in Lawrence. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He married Dorothy M. Moore on June 18, 1965, in Ottawa. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Deverlee Goodrich, Melvern; a son, Ben, Lawrence; his mother, Ottawa; a sister, Sharon Stone, East Greenwich, R.I.; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Ottawa, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Family will receive friends after the rosary.
