Notes:

⢠Kansas has won 13 straight exhibition games dating to a 101-93 loss to Lisbonne Benfica on Dec. 28, 1995, in Strausbourg, France. In addition, KU has won 17 straight home exhibition games.

⢠The Jayhawks are 31-7 in exhibition games, including a record of 24-5 under Roy Williams. Williamsâ teams are 24-2 in home exhibition games. This marks the third straight year the Jayhawks have played an exhibition against in-state Division II school. KU beat Emporia State, 120-51, in 2000 and downed Fort Hays State, 95-41, last season.

⢠The Ichabods return three starters and seven lettermen to a team that went 20-8 and tied for third in the MIAA last season. Senior forward Manny Clifton is the teamâÂÂs top returning scorer (18.3 ppg) and rebounder (7.4 ppg). Senior forward Ryan Murphy averaged 14.7 points and 6.7 boards per game. Clifton and Murphy were both All-MIAA selections last season.

⢠Washburn is coached by Bob Chipman, who is 533-186 in his 24th season with the Ichabods.

⢠Kansas leads the all-time series with Washburn, 30-3. TonightâÂÂs game will not count in the record books. KU last beat the Ichabods, 99-56, on Nov. 25, 2000 in Allen Fieldhouse. The 43-point win marked the second-largest in the KU-Washburn series, surpassing a 46âÂÂ:quot;point KU win on Jan 10, 1917. Kirk Hinrich scored 22, while Eric Chenowith grabbed 17 rebounds. Jeff Boschee totaled nine assists. Washburn’s Ryan Murphy had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

⢠WashburnâÂÂs John Crider played for KU in 1999 and 2000 before transferring to the Topeka school. He scored seven points and grabbed 10 boards in 27 career games at KU.

⢠KU is 17-0 against the Ichabods in Lawrence in regular-season play. Williams is 3-0 against the Ichabods; Chipman 0-3 against KU.

⢠Just two other schools have a longer series history against KU (Emporia State, Iowa), with the first Washburn game dating to 1906. The first meeting between the Jayhawks and the Ichabods came Jan. 19, 1906. KU prevailed, 22-19, in Topeka.

⢠WashburnâÂÂs Crider, Ryan Tomlins, Matt Tinsley, Gary Woodland, Jared Head, J.P. Meitner, Steven Kenney and Ryan Murphy hail from Kansas.

⢠Chipman was a guard at K-State for two years and is 4-1 all-time against Kansas as an athlete.

⢠When KU and WU last met, four current Ichabods – Ryan Tomlins, Matt Tinsley, Troy Douglas and Ryan Murphy – were on the team, and three current Jayhawks -Kirk Hinrich, Nick Collison and Bryant Nash – played in that game in Lawrence.
