Gerald Edward Broz

Services for Gerald Edward Broz, 67, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Broz died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at his home.

He was born March 9, 1935, in Wagner, S.D., the son of Edward Clarence and Irene Florence (Gale) Broz. He graduated from Wagner High School in 1953. He received a degree in electrical engineering in 1957 from South Dakota State University, which he attended on a basketball scholarship.

After graduation Mr. Broz went to work for DuPont in Clinton, Iowa, as an electrical engineer. He transferred in 1973 to the Tecumseh plant as superintendent of manufacturing and retired in 1996 as plant manager for Tecumseh Flexel Inc., formerly known as DuPont.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 to 1965.

He married Clarice D. Rohla on June 7, 1957, in Wagner. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Pamela Boat, Kansas City, Mo., and Peggy L. Volker and Tracy L. Wilkus, both of Lenexa; a son, Jonathan E., Westwood; two sisters, JoAnn Stedronsky, Wagner, and Judy Childs, Midwest City, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel.

The family suggests memorials to the Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box No. 9752, San Jose, CA 95157; or the Leukemia Society of America Kansas Chapter, for research on Chronic Lymphocystic Leukemia, sent in care of the funeral chapel.
