Edna V. Winter
Services for Edna V. Winter, 84, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Winter died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 9, 1917, in Arlington, Mass., the daughter of Thomas and May (Marchant) Sheppard.
Mrs. Winter was a first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps serving in Iran and India during World War II. She also was a nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Hospice Care of Douglas County. She was a nurse for 50 years.
She married Maurus Winter on June 15, 1946, in Indiana. He died in 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Allen and Paul, both of Lawrence; a daughter, Diane Dahl, Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Frances Littlehale, Arlington, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A granddaughter died earlier.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, Lawrence Humane Society or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
