August Lee Yocum Jr.

Oskaloosa :quot; Services for August Lee Yocum Jr., 72, Oskaloosa, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.

Mr. Yocum died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at his daughter’s home in Oskaloosa after a long illness.

He was born June 20, 1930, in Seneca, Mo., the son of August Lee and Bertie (Reman) Yocum. He moved to Oskaloosa in 2001 from Lawrence, where he had lived for nine years.

Mr. Yocum was a production worker for Owens-Corning Co. in Kansas City, Kan., for 25 years. He was medically retired in 1974. He attended Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Oskaloosa.

He married Joan P. Anderson on Sept. 14, 1956, in Kansas City, Mo. She died May 3, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy, Ellsworth, and Richard, Westwood; a daughter, Phyllis Newell, Oskaloosa; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home.
