Don Breslauer and Irena Royzman, New York City, announce the birth of their daughter, Sophie Royzman Breslauer, Nov. 1, 2002, at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. Grandparents are Greg and Bella Royzman, Philadelphia, and Fran and Dan Breslauer, Lawrence. Great-grandparents are Faina Royzman, Israel, and Esther Gurian, Lawrence.

Andrew Fishburn, Lawrence, is a member of the Fort Scott Community College Meats Judging Team, which placed third in the American Royal Collegiate Meats Contest Sunday in Emporia. Fishburn placed second in the beef grading division of the competition and the team placed third.

Julie Carden, Lawrence, participated as an alternate on the team. In the alternates contest, Carden placed fourth.

Lindsay Shields, Lawrence, recently was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society at Brevard College, Brevard, N.C.

The following students were chosen as Students of the Month in October at Oskaloosa High School: Nick Baker, April Heady-Smith and Garret Tufte, seniors; and Shawn Stottlemire, sophomore. Dale Schmidt was selected as Teacher of the Month.
