4-H and FCE news

India FCE will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Don’s Steakhouse, 2176 E. 23rd St. Bonnie Bond will give the program “A Flash in a Pan.” Members are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for donation.

Kanwaka FCE will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the home of Muriel Maness. A.K. Winter will present the lesson “A Flash in the Pan.”

The Jayhawk 4-H Club met Oct. 14. The meeting was called to order by Casey Davis, vice president.

Installation of the 2002-03 officers was conducted. Thirteen members turned in record books and were recognized at the Oct. 27 County Achievement Banquet. Officer training and planning sessions for both junior and senior officers is today.

The Pioneer 4-H Club attended the meeting as guests and provided the Jayhawk 4-H Club with an evaluation.

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn School for the annual club achievement dinner.

The Vinland 4-H Club met Nov. 4 at Vinland School. Michael Moore, president, called the meeting to order.

Melissa Emery and Misty Emery were introduced as new members. Members answered roll call by naming what they are thankful for. Leah Hoelscher advised members of newly elected council officers during her report. Sandy Stone reminded members of officers training. She also handed out tickets to the Bromelsick Christmas party.

The club discussed and voted to adopt a child for Christmas. Members enrolled in the clothing buymanship project will go shopping for gift ideas.

The club had its annual potluck dinner and presentation of awards. Bill Wilson received a special award for his 15 years of service to Vinland Valley 4-H Club.

The club will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Baldwin Care Center, where members will sing Christmas carols. Each member is to bring two or more cards to give to the residents.

Members will then meet at Vinland School to conduct business and exchange Christmas snack
