Kansas soccer falls to Nebraska, 2-1
SAN ANTONIO ? Kansas UniversityâÂÂs stay in the Big 12 Conference soccer tournament didnâÂÂt last long.
The sixth-seeded Jayhawks lost their opener, 2-1, to third-seeded Nebraska on Thursday at Blossom Stadium.
KU (11-7-2) outshot NU 12-5 in the first half, but the Huskers (12-5-3) still took a 1-0 lead.
NU made it 2-0 at the 60:41 mark before KUâÂÂs Caroline Smith answered with a goal at 68:01.
Smith, who had missed the previous five matches because of a knee injury, extended her school record for goals in a season to 12.
The Jayhawks outshot Nebraska 23-13 overall.
KU will learn if it has landed a bid to the NCAA Tournament on Monday.
