She was born April 8, 1912, in Glenwood, Iowa, the daughter of Pearl Ellis and Nora Mae (Harriman) Courter.

Mrs. Brand was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lawrence Country Club and was a volunteer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She married John W. Brand on July 4, 1947. He died July 1, 1971.

Survivors include a son, Tom Brand, Silver City, N.M.; a brother, David Courter, Houston; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donorâÂÂs choice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
