Red Raiders rough up Jayhawks

? The Kansas University volleyball team let this one slip away.

Texas Tech, a meager 9-13 overall and 4-9 in the Big 12 Conference, beat the Jayhawks 3-0 (30-24, 31-29, 30-17) on Wednesday night at United Spirit Arena.

Ashley Michaels led Kansas with eight kills and Andi Rozum had 11 digs, but those numbers hardly match Tech’s ringers.

Kelly Johnson had 22 kills and Angela Mooney 20 for the Red Raiders, but the impressive numbers don’t stop there.

Jessy Herrera had 20 digs and Ann Romjue 15 more, helping Tech’s cause.

Johnson had a .465 hitting percentage, and Mooney registered a .462. Kansas’ best hitting percentage was Michaels at .353.

The loss drops the Jayhawks to 17-6 overall and 8-6 Big 12. Kansas’ next match is at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Texas A&M.
