Portland’s Anderson suffers concussion

? Trail Blazers guard Derek Anderson sustained a concussion Wednesday in the first quarter of Portland’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Portland guard Derek Anderson is tended to by Trail Blazers trainer Jay Jensen after Anderson was injured against Memphis. Anderson left Wednesday's game in Portland, Ore., with a concussion.

With 10 minutes left, Anderson fell hard under the Grizzlies’ basket. He was prone for several minutes, but remained alert, as trainers attended to him.

Anderson, averaging 14 points a game this season, rubbed his temples as teammates helped him up and led him off the court.

The Trail Blazers were already without starting forward Bonzi Wells, a last-minute scratch because of a sore foot.

Wells has struggled this season with blisters on his feet. The Trail Blazers would not say specifically whether that’s what caused him to miss the game. He averaged 8.5 points and 5.3 rebounds through Portland’s first four games.
