Eleanor Albright Lockhart

? She was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Winfield, the daughter of James H. and Louise (Mowry) Albright. She grew up and attended public schools in Winfield, where she graduated from high school in 1942. After attending Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, for two years, she received a bachelor of arts degree with a major in journalism in 1946 from Kansas University. She did graduate work at Southwestern College, Wichita State University, Emporia State, KU and Connecticut Wesleyan.

Mrs. Lockhart and her husband lived in Rochester, N.Y., Los Angeles, Winfield and Beaumont, Tex. She moved back to Winfield and taught English and humanities at the high school for six years. She moved in 1971 to Lawrence to teach humanities and serve as librarian at Lawrence High School until she retired in 1986. She also served on the Lawrence Public Library Board for 11 years.

She married Frederick J. Lockhart in 1946. They later divorced.

Survivors include two sons, Fritz Lockhart, Denver, and Sam Lockhart, Lenexa; a daughter, Molly Ahlerich, Winfield; a brother, Philip Albright, Lake Placid, N.Y.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; and a stepgranddaughter.
