Marshall wins

? Kansas University senior Chris Marshall shot three sub-par rounds to win The Prestige, which ended Tuesday on the 6,841-yard, par-72 La Quinta Resort-Mountain Course.

“I am very delighted with Chris’ finish. He played really well,” KU coach Ross Randall said. “I am not sure that his tee-to-green play was the best that it could be, but he definitely putted the ball well, making a lot of putts.”

Marshall shot 70-67-70Â207, tying a career- and season-best. It was his first career victory.

Runner-up Adam Rubinson of Texas Christian was a stroke back at 208.

As a team, the Jayhawks placed sixth in the 18-team field. TCU won the team title with 853 strokes; Kansas shot 882.

Other KU scores: Tyler Hall, tied for ninth, 215; Andrew Price, tied for 52nd, 228; Pete Krsnich, tied for 64th, 232; and Jason Sigler, 76th, 236.

“The team struggled with the exception of Marshall and Hall,” Randall said.
