7 KU students nominated for prestigious scholarships

Seven Kansas University students and recent graduates have been nominated for two prestigious scholarships, officials announced Tuesday.

The students will compete for Rhodes and Marshall scholarships, which each provide $50,000 for two years of graduate study.

The nominees will be honored during a reception from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Malott Room of the Kansas Union.

Rhodes semifinalists compete at the state level Dec. 3 and 4 in Lawrence, and state winners compete at the regional level Dec. 6 and 7 in St. Paul, Minn.

Marshall finalists will be interviewed Nov. 18 and 19 in Chicago, with winners announced in early December.

The nominees and the scholarships for which they’re competing are:

Mark Bradshaw, May 2001 graduate from Walnut; Marshall.

Daniel Legget, Lincoln, Neb., senior; Rhodes or Marshall.

Robert Chamberlain, May 2002 graduate from Topeka; Rhodes.

David Roby, Topeka senior; Marshall.

Derek Teeter, Oakley senior; Rhodes or Marshall.

Anne Wallen, Lindsborg senior; Rhodes or Marshall.

Christina Warinner, Overland Park senior; Marshall.
