James L. Shears

PARSONS ? Private services for James L. Shears, 52, Fort Worth, Tex., formerly of Lawrence, will be at a later date.

Mr. Shears died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas in Fort Worth, after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 16, 1950, in Salina, the son of Robert F. and Patsy M. (Burris) Shears. He grew up in Parsons and graduated from Burlington High School. He also attended Kansas University. He had lived in Lawrence for the past 25 years.

Mr. Shears managed apartment complexes for 10 years and then was maintenance director for the Eldridge Hotel in Lawrence for the past 12 years.

Survivors include four brothers, Robert L., Parsons, Jerry W., Burgess, Mo., Michael D., Colony, and Brian K., St. Paul; and three sisters, Cheryl S. Reibel, LaHarpe, Eva K. Carnahan, Chanute, and Rebecca M. Shears, Girard.

Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons is in charge of arrangements.
