FSHS Player of the week: Misha Hernandez

Position: Center

The game: On a slightly undersized Firebirds’ line, Hernandez is downright small  but that doesn’t get in the way of his blocking. He keyed Free State’s resurgent running game this season, particularly in Friday’s 20-12 victory against Washburn Rural. FSHS was shut down in the first half, but opened it up in the second half, as the Firebirds ended up with 132 second-half yards.

Comment: “He’s probably been our most consistent performer on the interior line,” FSHS coach Bob Lisher said. “He works hard, he plays the way he’s coached and he always has his blocking assignment.”
