McAnderson headed to KU

Brandon McAnderson’s season just got better.

The Lawrence High senior orally committed to the Kansas University football team Saturday night, the first Lion to commit to the Jayhawks since 1994 graduate Jason Thoren.

As the Lions prepare for their Class 6A state playoff opener Friday, McAnderson cut to the chase and chose KU over Iowa, Missouri and Kansas State.

“There were a lot of people interested in him,” LHS coach Dirk Wedd said. “I think he is happy with KU and didn’t see any reason why he should waste other people’s time.”

McAnderson, 6-foot, 210 pounds, has rushed for 1,524 yards on 191 carries this season, averaging 7.9 yards per carry. He’s second at LHS in career rushing with 2,787 yards.
