Board adds study session to calendar

The Lawrence school board added a study session to the November calendar to tie up loose ends of its school facilities study.

Board President Scott Morgan said the meeting would be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 11 at district headquarters, 110 McDonald Drive. It will be broadcast on Sunflower Broadband channel 26 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“It’s for the board to talk through issues they’ve asked questions about,” he said.

The meeting is open to the public, but residents won’t have an opportunity to speak.

Morgan said the agenda would include discussion of alternative uses of elementary schools likely to be closed and options for relocating students among elementary buildings.

Trimming the cost of a Lawrence Alternative High School expansion also will be considered, he said.

He said new surveys of school property at Centennial and Cordley schools would be reviewed. Questions have been raised about district maps of Centennial property.
