Eudora gets rematch with Baldwin nemesis

A rematch between Baldwin and Eudora highlights Tuesday’s state football playoff clashes involving Journal-World area teams.

In Class 4A, Baldwin will be making its second trip of the season to Eudora. On Oct. 11, the Bulldogs handed the Cardinals their lone loss, 33-32.

Eudora (8-1) and Baldwin (6-3) feature the top two running backs in the Frontier League. Eudora’s Andrew Pyle and Baldwin’s Micah Mason have each gained over 1,000 yards.

Also in 4A, Ottawa (5-4) will play host to Paola (5-4). Ottawa lost three of its first four outings, but the Cyclones have won five straight since, although one of those victories was forfeited for using an ineligible player.

Tonganoxie (5-4) will travel to Atchison (6-3). The Chieftains advanced after squeezing Lansing, 21-20, on Thursday.

Also, Mill Valley (8-1), which suffered its first loss on Thursday night at Eudora, will travel to Topeka Hayden (8-1).

4A: Baldwin at Eudora, Paola at Ottawa, Tonganoxie at Atchison, Mill Valley at Topeka Hayden3A: Northeast of Arma at Wellsville

In Class 3A, Wellsville, despite a 4-5 record, will play host to Northeast of Arma (5-4). All five of Wellsville’s defeats have been to 4A schools.

Tuesday’s winners advance to regional play Saturday.
