County road plans available for review

Plans for revamping County Road 1029 south of Lecompton will be available for public review during a meeting Tuesday evening.

The meeting will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Lecompton Community Building, 333 Elmore.

The project, set for construction next year, is being designed to make driving safer along the road between the Farmers Turnpike and Lecompton city limits. Plans call for adding paved shoulders and flattening slopes on the sides of the road; much of 1029 itself also would be rebuilt to improve visibility distances.

The intersection of the road with the Farmers Turnpike also would be transformed into a curve, so that traffic driving from west to north or from south to east would not have to stop at stop signs.

Engineers working on the project will be available during the meeting to explain the plans and answer questions.
