We see them all the time advertisements to help improve or repair your credit. But do these services really work, and what steps does credit repair entail?

Several Web sites provide information on credit repair and how to detect unscrupulous repair offers:

eCreditRepair.com at www.ecreditrepair.com/faq.asp. The site provides answers to a range of credit questions.

Experian at www.experian.com/consumer/index.html. Persons can select "All about credit" to access credit report, scoring and fraud information.

Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline /pubs/credit/repair.htm. The site contains credit repair and scam detection insights.

Institute of Consumer Financial Education at www.financial-education-icfe.org/creditfilerepair/ index.asp. Credit and credit repair issues are discussed.
