Declining enrollment figures from kindergarten to college were causing public and private school officials in Kansas to take a tougher look at education budgets. However, the evidence was that the Kansas University student totals would remain steady or rise, despite drops in other areas of education. Some forecasters saw the day when the Lawrence campus enrollment figure at Kansas University would top 25,000. They added that emphasis on college education would continue to grow, boosting enrollment figures at most institutions of higher learning.

IN 1962

A new $2 million basic science building at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City was ready for dedication. Other building projects were reported in the works, not only at the Med Center but on the KU campus in Lawrence.
