Tips help selecting bathing suits go easier
Lingerie shopping might be even more intimate and intimidating than browsing for bathing suits.
But a woman well briefed in tricks to flatter her body type might fare better.
The June issue of Cosmopolitan magazine offers these tips:
For a boyish body, create the illusion of curves with high-cut bottoms, or shaped tops, such as a padded bra or teddy, triangle-shaped bra or baby-doll camisole.
Loose-fitting camisoles, baby dolls and tap pants are flattering to not-so-flat tummies. Create the look of a slimmer waist with a corset, and use enhanced tops to draw the eye away from the midsection.
Women who have lower-half woes might try panties in a slimming fabric covered with short-style underwear. Bikini briefs, however, should be banned from the bureau. Also, a halter bra can minimize wide hips by making shoulders look broader.
Sunblock needs to be used when strolling
The message to wear sunblock while frolicking in the sun has been drilled into the public’s consciousness like a beach umbrella in the sand.
But the same call hasn’t been heeded when it comes to wearing sunblock while walking the dog or running errands. To all those who ignore the risks of daily exposure to ultraviolet rays, Origins, the bath and beauty company, is giving the Silent Treatment.
Silent Treatment, to be worn over moisturizer and under makeup, has a sun-protection factor of 15. It’s intended to counteract passive sun exposure, including the UV rays that seep through clouds. The product also protects against the broad-spectrum rays from direct sunlight but it’s not water- or sweat-resistant.
Silent Treatment, at $15, is a blend of titanium dioxide, which is found in certain minerals, with soothing botanicals, including cardamon, chamomile and lemon.
