Downpour wipes out Rangers' 3-1 lead

? Texas and Kansas City were rained out for the second straight day Friday night, costing the Rangers’ Rafael Palmeiro a two-run homer that gave him 1,500 career RBIs.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on July 15. Thursday’s rainout will be made up as part of a Sunday doubleheader.

The Rangers were leading 3-1 with one out in the top of the fourth when play was halted at 8:33 p.m. It was called at 10:10 p.m. The start of the game had been delayed 25 minutes.

Palmeiro hit his 10th homer off Jeremy Allfeldt with two outs in the first. The homer, had it stood, would have given him exactly 1,500 RBIs, making him the 34th player to reach the plateau.

It’s the fourth rainout this season in Kansas City, tying a record set in 1984 and matched 1997.
