Nancy Bengel Lynott

? She was born March 8, 1946, in Worthington, Ohio, the daughter of John and Katharine (Keil) Bengel. She grew up in Independence, Kan., graduating from Independence High School. She graduated with highest distinction from Kansas University, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She earned a master’s degree in library science from Columbia University, New York City.

Mrs. Lynott was a librarian at Kansas University from 1970 to 1977. She was also a librarian at Concurrent Computer Corp., Oceanport, and at Red Bank Public Library. She also worked at Toys ‘R’ Us, Linens ‘N Things and Comfort Keepers, all in Shrewsbury.

She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Red Bank, serving as lay leader, chairwoman of Christian education, chairwoman of the board of Learning Tree Preschool and lay speaker, among other ministries.

She married Michael Lynott in 1976. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Rachel Lynott, Shrewsbury; a son, Sean Lynott, Shrewsbury; her mother, Independence, Kan.; and a brother, Anthony Bengel, Greensboro, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
