Shockers earn Valley honors

? Two Wichita State players received top honors in the Missouri Valley Conference on Monday, with Brian Burgamy named player of the year and John Tetuan named pitcher of the year.

Burgamy, a junior second baseman from Lawton, Okla., leads the conference with 84 hits and 59 runs scored. He also is tied for second with a .400 batting average. He is the fifth Shocker in the past nine seasons to win player of the year honors.

Tetuan, a junior from Topeka, leads the MVC with a 9-0 mark. He is second in the Valley with a 1.92 ERA.
