Honoring the fallen

Lawrence Police officers salute as a bugler plays “Taps” at Oak Hill Cemetery. Police officers and city officials gathered Friday at the grave of Officer Wilson Pringle, who died in the line of duty on Oct. 16, 1909, to pay tribute to fallen officers. Wreaths also were placed on the graves of the city’s two other fallen officers, Allen Moore, who died May 22, 1901, and Melvin Howe, the last to die while on duty on April 24, 1931.
