It is regrettable that five of the girls lost sight of the team aspect and had to be disciplined for breaking team rules. Five is nearly one-third of the team, and it had to hurt in more ways than losses. Bunge did the right thing, and most of us support her and the team. Loss of playing time is a good attention-getter. Anytime you are a part of the team, you must put the team ahead of self, and that means following team rules. Thank you, Coach Bunge, for your high standards and standing by them.

Why is track and field nearly lost in your sports coverage? On May 3, lawrence High School, Free State High School and many other area high schools, both boys and girls teams, were at the Shawnee Mission North Relays. Many hundreds of our area high school athletes competed, but they rated no pre-meet nor post-meet coverage (last page, day-late summary only). Why not a reporter and or photographer assigned for first-hand coverage?
