Free State baseball falls, 13-3

Olathe North scored 12 runs in its final three innings and defeated Free State, 13-3, Friday at FSHS in the completion of a high school baseball game that started Wednesday in Olathe.

The game, which was suspended because of rain, was re-started in the second inning Friday.

“The score was not indicative of the game,” FSHS coach Mike Hill said. “We were an inch or two away from a lead in the fifth. I thought our kids played really hard. Olathe North hit the ball hard and scored a lot of runs in the last two innings.”

The game was tied, 1-all, heading into the bottom of the fourth, but Olathe North scored three runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and five in the sixth.

The Firebirds had four hits, including doubles by Matt Berner and Kyle Unruh.

Free State concluded the regular season with an 8-12 record. Regional pairings will be announced today.
