Knight ticket mulls adding Glasscock

? House Speaker Kent Glasscock is being considered again as a possible Republican candidate for lieutenant governor.

Glasscock has been approached with the idea by Wichita Mayor Bob Knight, who is seeking the GOP nomination for governor.

“I would say he’s on the short list,” David Norris, Knight’s campaign manager, said Wednesday night. “I know Bob and Kent are good friends, and if he wanted to do that, it would be spectacular.”

Norris said the campaign wasn’t actively pursuing a running mate but had discussed the possibility with Glasscock after Atty. Gen. Carla Stovall dropped out of the race last month.

Glasscock, from Manhattan, began running for governor last year but abandoned his bid to become Stovall’s lieutenant-governor running mate in November. However, Stovall quit the race on April 15, leaving moderate Republicans without their favored candidate.
