Charges filed in reported attack on Pizza Shuttle delivery driver

Two Lawrence men have been charged with beating a pizza delivery driver Saturday.

The men  Roger Davis, 30, and Timothy Cable, 31  were charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. They were being held Monday at the Douglas County Jail.

Davis’ bond was set at $15,000; Cable’s was $25,000.

According to police reports, Davis and Cable allegedly ordered pizzas from Pizza Shuttle and had them delivered to the 1200 block of New Jersey Street, where Davis lives.

When the driver, a 21-year-old Lawrence man, arrived about 9:45 p.m., he was struck in the face by a rock, police said. The assailants took the pizzas  worth $17.75  and a $100 Nokia cell phone, but didn’t take the cash the driver was carrying.

Sgt. Mike Pattrick said the driver’s nose and cheek bones were broken and will require plastic surgery. The driver was transported by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Pattrick said witnesses provided suspect descriptions that led police to arrest Davis and Cable, who were at a house in the 1100 block of Connecticut Street.
