Sinking Spring, Pa. ? Lawrence’s Bob Glass, the two-time defending champion in the PBA Senior Pennsylvania Open, is in third place after the first round of the event on Sunday at Berks Lanes.

George Pappas, of Charlotte, N.C., leads with a nine-game pinfall total of 2,222. Steve Neff, of Homosassa Springs, Fla., is second with 2,149, and Glass is third at 2,101.

Glass had only one game below 200 and had a pair of 268s.

The 175-man field will return today for the second nine-game qualifier round.
