Hospital seeks volunteers

Agency: Lawrence Memorial Hospital

Address: 300 Maine

Contact Person: Allyson Leland, 830-3141

Lawrence Memorial Hospital needs about four volunteers to work at the hospital gift shop and two volunteers to work in the oncology unit.

Volunteers in the gift shop perform basic retail duties. Volunteers are needed for the Friday afternoon and Saturday morning shift. Leland said those who volunteer in the oncology unit pamper patients while they are receiving chemotherapy. They provide refreshments to the patients and run errands. They are also in charge of preparing the room between patients. Volunteers work in either the morning or afternoon.

Volunteers must be 18 years old or older. An application is available at lmh.org or by calling Leland. A short interview and two-hour orientation session are also required.

Volunteers are needed throughout the hospital, Leland said.

“If people are willing to help, we’ve always got something for them to do,” she said.
