The University Bridge Club announced winners of its April 19 game, which was hosted by Carl and Isabel Schaake and Karmi and Edna Galle.

Blue team winners were Leo Langlois, first; Don Binns, second; Edna Webb, third; Paul Jordan, fourth; and Ralph Dunn, fifth.

Pink team winners were Dottie Miller, first; Carolyn Jordan, second; Betty Lukens, third; Jinny Wiginton, fourth; and Jean Dunn, fifth.

The University Bridge Club announced winners of its April 27 game, which was hosted by Horace and Freddie Nelson.

Blue team winners were Lois Liebert, first; Horace Nelson, second; Hank Miller, third; Florence McNicoll, fourth; and George Bocquin, fifth.

Pink team winners were Wanda Kring, first; Betty Lukens, second; Hazel Stellmacher, third; Freddie Nelson, fourth; and Carol Smith, fifth.

The Sunny Valley Extension Club met April 9 at Sunnyside School.

After a business meeting, Judy Shultz, outgoing president, was recognized and given a special gift for her outstanding leadership. A lesson on home health care was given by Joyce Williams. Refreshments were served by Frances Reeves and Joyce Williams, hostesses.

The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. May 14 at the Sunnyside School. All meetings are open to the public. For more information, call Karyl Graves at 843-6263.

The Lawrence Music Club will meet at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of Polly Miranda, 1278 N. 935 Road. The program will be presented by recipients of Music Club Scholarships: Rachelle Herod, Lola Burton Craig Scholarship, voice; Jessica Smythe, Carl Adolph Preyer Scholarship, piano; Lesley Hughes, Louise Graf Brooker Scholarship, clarinet; and Christopher Nieman, Lawrence Music Club Music Education Scholarship, trumpet.

The club will recognize 50-year members. Installation of officers will be conducted.

The club will celebrate National Music Club week, Sunday through May 12. The Lawrence Music Club is a member of the National Federated Music Clubs, which was founded in 1898 in Chicago.

The Lawrence 299er Duplicate Bridge Club’s April 24 game was stratified, used the Howell movement and was directed by Don Brennaman.

The winners were Michael Green and Richard Willoughby, followed by Helen Huffman and Robert Huffman. Frances Vogel and Judy Bevan placed third, followed by Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd. The C session was won by Clarice Broz and Helen Fisher, followed by Ann Thompson and Julie Ward.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club’s April 26 game was stratified, used the Mitchell movement and was directed by Don Brennaman.

The North-South winners were Kent McCullough and Harry Shaffer, followed by Sally Taylor and Betty Collier. Frances Vogel and Erna Holmes placed third, followed by Judy Bevan and Linda Heavin.

The East-West winners were Shirlie Vaughn and Virginia Eddy, followed by Cathy Blumenfeld and Michael Blumenfeld. Madelyn Jenks and Mona Bell placed third. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd tied for fourth place with Mike Montgomery and Larry Bodle.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club’s April 29 game was stratified, used the Mitchell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver.

The North-South winners were Lois Clark and Betty Collier, followed by Jerry Sloan and Patt Radford. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd placed third, followed by Chris Lane and Virginia Seaver.

The East-West winners were Russell LaForce and Harry Shaffer, followed by Gary Joyce and Mike Montgomery. Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough placed third, followed by Sally Taylor and Shirlie Vaughn.
