Weddings

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Phillip and Betty White Baker, Topeka. The groom is the son of the late Keith and Grace Noreen Towns, Sioux City, Iowa.

Matron of honor was Susan Baker Anderson. Best man was Paul Hotvedt. Bridesmaid was Beth Pine. Wayne Pearse was groomsman.

Alan Anderson lighted the candles. Amanda McGuiness provided music. Rita Roeder served cake.

The bride is a graduate of Topeka West High School and Kansas University where she received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in English literature. She is a graduate teaching assistant at KU, where she is pursuing a doctorate.

The groom is a graduate of Sioux City Central High School and Kansas University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in education. He is employed by the Kansas Union as operations manager. He is pursuing a doctorate in education.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

Denny-Brk

Laura Denny, Wichita, and Karrigan Brk, Lawrence, were married Aug. 4, 2001, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Wichita with the Rev. Richard Gorham officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Albert and Linda Denny, Wichita. The groom is the son of John Brk and Jean Shepherd, Lawrence.

Maid of honor was Anne Denny. Best man was Michael Gentry.

Bridesmaids were Meg Hartman, Kelly Harrigan, Stacey Steeples, Karen Kice and Sara Birk. Groomsmen were Reid Brk, Ian Brk, W.S. Cheng, Brendan Woodbury and Timothy Hofer.

Marlowe Brk was trumpeter. Ian Brk, Amanda Clark, Reid Brk, Meg Hartman and Evan Rosell were vocalists. Mitul Shah, Andrew Larson, Christopher Milligan and Thomas Macellino were ushers. Guest book attendants were Meghan Markwell and Kasey Ellis.

A reception followed the ceremony at the Petroleum Club.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Wichita East High School and a 2001 Kansas University, where she received degrees in Spanish and biology. She is employed by the Professional Renewal Center.

The groom is a 1997 Lawrence High School graduate. He plans to graduate in May 2002 from KU. He is employed by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

Villee-Bartels

Chandra Villee, Lawrence, and Frank Bartels, Burghausen, Germany, were married March 23, 2002, at the home of the bride’s parents with the Rev. Noel Stephens officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Stuart and Georgann Villee, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Christa Bartels, Burghausen, Germany.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

Conoley-Silverberg

Jennifer Conoley and Shawn Silverberg, Lawrence, were married March 16, 2002, at Red Rocks National Park in Las Vegas.

The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Jackie Conoley, Lenexa. The groom is the son of Bruce Silverberg, Joplin, Mo., and Taena Rock, Leawood.

The bride works in the Classified Department of Lawrence Journal-World. The groom plans to graduate in May from Kansas University with a degree in religious studies.
