Whoopi Goldberg to emcee tonight’s awards ceremony

Whoopi Goldberg will be host for the 74th Academy Awards today, her fourth such stint in 10 years. The annual gala begins at 7:30 p.m. from the new 3,650-seat Kodak Theater, bringing the awards back to Hollywood for the first time in 40 years.

ABC will begin the evening at 7 with “On the Red Carpet” featuring Leeza Gibbons, Chris Connelly and Ananda Lewis.

Oscar presenters include Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez, Marcia Gay Harden, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Tom Hanks, Kirsten Dunst, Ben Stiller, Julia Roberts and Russell Crowe.

Faith Hill and the Cirque du Soleil are scheduled to perform.

Among other honors, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will go to director Arthur Hiller and honorary awards to actors Robert Redford and Sidney Poitier.
