KU Engineering plans girls’ summer program

The Kansas University School of Engineering is seeking girls entering ninth to 12th grades for its seventh annual Project Discovery summer program.

The program, which runs June 9 to 15, is designed to give girls exposure to a variety of engineering opportunities. They work with engineering faculty members to learn about mathematics, chemistry and physics to solve engineering design problems. The students live at a KU residence hall during the week.

Registration, which is limited to 30 girls, closes April 30 and costs $200. The cost includes lodging, meals and lab materials. Financial assistance is available to students who qualify.
