IN 1962 A new church facility for Lutheran students and faculty at Kansas University was due to be a reality in several years. Announcement was made of the purchase of a 5-acre tract at 15th and Iowa streets for the project.

Calls for quick and decisive city commission action on urban renewal efforts and flood control were presented to the commission by the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce directors, led by president Warren Rhodes. The chamber wanted the city to take significant steps “before it’s too late.”

IN 1902 On March 23,1902, the Lawrence World noted that “Twelve hundred and seven applications for membership have been received since March 1 by the Fraternal Aid.” A drive was underway to build a lodge building which would eventually result in construction of a building at 123 W. 8th St.
