Charges filed in slaying

? A Washington man was charged Thursday in the first slaying in Washington County in nearly 20 years.

Joseph Leo Guillory, 19, was charged in Washington County Court with first-degree murder in the death of Alva Shaw, 75. He was also charged with felony auto theft and aggravated burglary.

Shaw was found at his home Saturday with his hands bound and his throat slit. Friends had not seen him since March 14. Shaw operated The Squire, a men’s clothing store in Washington, for 28 years until 1993.
