Eloise A. Reisner
Kansas City, Mo. Memorial services for Eloise A. Reisner, 80, Kansas City, Mo., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roanoke Presbyterian Church, Kansas City, Mo.
Miss Reisner died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., after a brief illness. She donated her body to Kansas University School of Medicine for medical research.
She was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Kellyville, Okla., the daughter of Harry E. and Grace Allison Reisner. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1939 and began cadet nurse training in 1943 at Kansas University Medical Center. She graduated 1946 and went to work for the Children’s Orthopedic Unit at the Med Center.
Miss Reisner left in 1954 for San Francisco, where she worked for a year at the Veterans Administration Hospital. She then returned to Kansas City and worked briefly as a nurse in private practice before returning to the Med Center. She worked there as assistant director of nursing for the evening shift until her retirement June 30, 1988.
She earned her Master Gardener designation from the University of Missouri Extension Service in 1987.
Miss Reisner, who played the flute, was one of the founding members of the Kansas City Civic Orchestra. She supported the Philharmonic/Symphony, Lyric Opera, Missouri State Ballet, William Jewell Concert Series, Friends of Chamber Music and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. She also was a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer driver with Westport Cooperative Services for more than 30 years.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Harwood, Lawrence.
The family will receive friends after the service in the church’s fellowship hall.
