Where is the industry concern for people living in nursing homes who go hungry every day, who develop bed sores to the bone, or who are beaten or raped? Surely the better message, although not as well-worn, would have been to acknowledge the problems, and send a message of compassion with a commitment to work from within to end the suffering of residents. Accomplishing that will be the only way the image of the industry, and its workers, will revive.
