He was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Lawrence, the son of Henry and Alma Suiter Seiwald. He grew up in Lawrence and attended Liberty Memorial High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.

Mr. Seiwald began farming in the Lawrence area in 1951 until his retirement.

He married Mildred Fidler on Aug. 10, 1946, in Manhattan. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Karen Crowe and Carolyn Milleret, both of Lawrence, and Clair Welsh, Kansas City, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to the Reno Township Fire Department or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
