SLT option?

If we build it on 31st or 32nd streets it’s the same old battles with Haskell. Also, now it would involve moving several large businesses located near 31st and Haskell. Big move. Very expensive.

If it’s built south of the river it removes a number of homes, not to mention putting the road too far south for any real benefit. Also, there is the added cost of bridges, etc.

My question is this: some time back there was discussion about building the SLT just north of the river, I think they called this 38th Street. In this location it should be far enough south of Haskell to be no problem and wouldn’t involve relocating any businesses. Also, Haskell and Louisiana Streets wouldn’t need to be relocated. It would affect very few homeowners (sorry about that) and would be a fair compromise on how far south the road was located. Didn’t Baker University, which owns and controls that area, once say that they would not object to a road at that location?

I would like to see the fighting end and this much needed road completed.
